Microsoft Word 2010 comes with a very efficient symbols and special characters editing capabilities with built-in ready-to-use equations. In addition, it has an improved equations editor to enable users make their own combination of symbols to introduce the formulas and equations clearly. In the following lines I’ll discuss writing a custom equation using the equation editing tools in Word 2010:

1. With the cursor points to the place you want to insert the equation, go to Insert tab, then click Equation from Symbols group.
